Fantastic Friday in Delamere - 9.7.2021

Date: 9th Jul 2021 @ 3:22pm

What a great couple of days we have had in Delemere. I was so proud of everyone on Thursday as I know there were a few late nights (me included) on Wednesday due to the excitement of the football but each and every one of the children continued to let their lights shine, doing their very best and behaving beautifully! Well done everyone and well done ENGLAND! How exciting! I can’t wait for Sunday and don’t forget to wave your beautiful England flags Delamere.

Yesterday, in English, we were focusing on using contractions (it’s, don’t, can’t) in our writing and I was mega impressed with how the children did this. A particular shout out to Quinn, Joshua and Kai for their work on this.

In Maths we continued to practise using the column method but this time we looked at mixed addition and subtraction problems. The children have really grown in confidence with this method and I was impressed with how they were looking carefully at which operation (+ or -) was needed. Well done!

In Maths, we have also been learning to tell the time this week, mixing in a little bit of Design Technology making our own clocks with levers and pivots to make the hands move. We loved using our clocks to practise telling and showing the times to o’clock and half past the hour. We then used our new skills to play a ‘What time is it Mr. Wolf?’ game helping him to get to his dinner.

Our wellbeing has been a real focus this week, starting the day with a well being activity and using mindfulness videos to help us feel calm and focused. Whilst thinking about what makes us happy, it was lovely to see the children’s ideas of what makes the perfect day; ice cream, beach visits and pyjama days galore! Sounds pretty perfect to me.

We were very lucky this week to have an assembly with Debora the guitar teacher and Mrs Snowdon has included some details of how to sign up for guitar lessons next year on her most recent blog. The children showed lots of interest and some even got to have a turn playing a guitar and I think we may have some naturals amongst us!

This afternoon was our last session with Mr Can the PE coach and we had lots of fun putting into practise all of the skills that we have been learning over the last half term. You may have seen that your child came home covered in stickers and that was because they all tried their best and showed great sportsmanship.

Well done to our Numbots winners this week, Robyn, Holly and Ava D, and also to our excellent examples Quinn, Alex, Annie, Franklin and Robyn.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week for our last week together in Delamere.
