Fantastic Friday in Delamere

Date: 21st May 2021 @ 3:20pm

It has been a bit of a wet end to the week but the children have not let it dampen their spirits and have continued to work hard and do their best.

In English we had a focus on handwriting and wrote up our super lyrics to the song ‘When I grow up ..’ using our best handwriting. We then had lots of fun recording them. We had some children who read out their lyrics with lovely expression and others who just went for it and sang all of the way through. It was a very special moment hearing the children talk so passionately about their aspirations for the future.

In Maths we continued to work on our problem solving skills and the children have made real progress with this! We talked about how problem solving is a skill for life and it is the reason why we learn all of our super Maths skills so that we can solve all sorts of problems in real life.

In Science there was great excitement as the children observed the progress of their beans using magnifying glasses. We then updated our bean diaries, drawing pictures and using scientific language to describe what was happening. The children did an outstanding job with this and it was very exciting to see the roots and shoots and how the beans had cracks in them.

In RE we watched some video tours of a Christian Church. We then we each made our own books describing some of the things that Christians do inside a church. We used new language such as font, pulpit and pews and talked about the different people who help to look after the church.

Well done to this week’s Numbots winners and excellent examples.
