Friday's Oakmere News

Date: 6th Mar 2022 @ 7:55am

Good morning all,

Well, what a week it's been! Firstly, a big thank you to you all for the effort you've put in for World Book Day on Thursday, seeing all these lovely colours certainly brightened up our day! We used our theme book "The Day The Crayons Quit" for our activities, the children reenacted the argument between yellow and orange crayons and we must admit that we are not any closer to the answer of which is the true colour of the Sun as the children had so many great arguments for both! We also explored colour blindness and created tests similar to those you might have seen at the opticians. Finally, thank you so much to those who joined your children to the "camp fire" after school, sadly the weather wasn't with us but we all thought it was a very special moment indeed.

This week has also brought division! It is definitely the trickiest of the operations but the children have made a great start with it using objects to support their learning. We are particularly pleased with our Y4s who have started learning a new method that was mind-boggling to say the least!

Your child might have also mentioned that we have an extra adult in our class - Miss Thompson is a student teacher who will be with us for a total of 6 weeks. During her time with us, she will take on more and more teaching responsibilities with our support and guidance. She has been supporting children this week, whilst getting to know them and we must say that she is a lovely new addition to Oakmere!

Enjoy the sunny weekend ahead of us and we will see you all next week.
