Hatchmere Class Blog 16.5.22
Date: 15th May 2022 @ 11:43pm
Hello Hatchmere
Sorry for the lateness of our Blog I ran into a few technical problems on Friday but better late than never. We had a great week with lots of hard work. In our writing this week we have been using our green editing pens to correct our mistakes and improve our writing. This is not something we usually introduce in Hatchmere, but the children are doing so well we thought we would give it a try and the children have loved it. They have been using it to think about their punctuation and the correct spelling of known words.
In maths we have been using the rhyme 'Five Fat Sausages' to see the patterns in the number ten. The children were exploring the relationship between adding two numbers together and subtracting two numbers. We played a game where the children had to guess how many counters were left under the scarf when I take some out. The children had to use their knowledge of number bonds to work out what they couldn't see. They were making number bond sums on our ten boards and numicon. We were practicing writing out our number bonds in a traditional sum format.
The children have been bringing in their favourite teddy to share with the class. They have been explaining their personal history with the teddy’s and answering the questions from the rest of the class. If your child has not brought in their teddy yet please send it in we would love to talk about it.
Please see the attached plans for what we are hoping to do this week.
Have a fun week.
Mrs Kelly and Mrs Teece.
