Hatchmere Class Blog 4/2/22

Hello Hatchmerians!

The children have been on fire this week!

Our Red Post Box has made an appearance and as part their literacy lesson they have been writing letters and posting them. The children have been working hard on their letter formation, finger spaces and checking that their writing makes sense. Hopefully, they will have a reply to their letters on Monday.

Measuring length has been the job of our budding mathematicians this week. They have been challenged to order ribbon by shortest to longest and used multi-link to measure the lengths of different objects, then comparing the two. The children also turned into little aliens to discover different number bonds to make 5! Mrs Kelly and I particularly enjoyed the children flying around the moon in their green deely boppers!

We have certainly tapped into our creative selves lately. The children have been drawing and painting different modes of transport, creating and painting junk model cars/boats/trains/planes for our display in the classroom. You may have also heard the children singing some of our dance songs from our PE sessions and some songs from collective worship; the air in Hatchmere has been ‘choral’ to say the least. Hatchmere have recently been inspired by one of their classmates to join in with some cosmic yoga. It was lovely to see all of the children become involved in another’s interest and then thank their friend personally for introducing their favourite cosmic yoga session to them.

In your child’s reading folder this week they have a competition poster to design from the school council! The theme for the poster is to discourage single use plastic in our school and for everyone to use a reusable water bottle. Encourage your child to create and colour in a poster that can then be entered into the school competition.
