Hatchmere's Class Blog 11.11.22

Date: 11th Nov 2022 @ 3:37pm

Hello Hatchmerians,

The children have had another lovely week where they have enjoyed what has been taught.  We were proud of the way the children engaged with our Remembrance Day work and the respect they showed during our two minutes silence.  Today the children scattered poppy seeds to commemorate the fallen. It was a poignant moment where the children showed respect, said a prayer and talked about why it is important to remember the bravery of our armed forces. We look forward to seeing them bloom next year.

Our new focus text The Squirrels who Squabbled has gone down a storm with the whole class and the children were inspired to learn lots of facts about squirrels and then take their new knowledge into their writing. Ask your child what they can tell you about our scampering friends.

In Maths this week we have explored the number 5 and positional language. The children were challenged to to find some number bonds that make 5 and revisit some '5' nursery rhymes. We have also played a game of position the pine cone! Can you put it on top of your head? Behind your back? Next to your foot? In front of your belly? Lots of fun, giggles and LEARNING!!

Your reading at home with the children at least 4 times a week is having such a positive impact on your child’s learning. We have been so impressed with the children’s developing reading skills and confidence. Please give yourselves a big pat on the back and keep up the good work! Your support in this area does not go unnoticed.

Take a look at the planning below for next week's learning.
