What a fabulous end to our half term…flippin’ marvelous!
Firstly, I’d like to thank all of the adults that attended our 2nd Pupil Consultation Evening. It was fabulous to meet you all and celebrate your child’s achievements. I am proud of every single one of our Hatchmerians as I know you are too. They have all come such a long way since their September starts. How is their Reception year just whizzing by, can we slow it down please?
Hatchmere completed their independent writing assessment this week all about their journey around London. They each created a story map on Monday and used this to support their writing. They visited The Gherkin, The London Eye and Buckingham Palace to name but a few.
Our marvelous mathematicians outsmarted me again during a maths quiz, even when I make the questions quite tricky! We are becoming adept at recognising more and less and can use this language during our reasoning conversations (Teddy has more than Sam, Sam has less than Teddy). We have also been building our number city in our Outside Classroom. Buildings were made from 1 block then 2, then 3, and so on. All the way up to 10. Which number building was the tallest? Which building is the smallest? Why is that? These questions develop reasoning skills and help the children to explain their understanding. Excellent number skills, Hatchmere.
Yummy, yummy, in my tummy! We all enjoyed our pancakes this afternoon and tried various toppings. Miss Dyson donned her chef’s hat and apron and served us up our tasty treats.
Here are some of our favourite class dances for you to try over the half term:
