I don’t think we could have fit any more learning into our week if we had tried! Phew, we are ready the weekend!
This week the children have been focussed on what Remembrance Day is and how we can show respect, reflection and thanks to our Armed Forces and Support Services. We read Peace Lily by Hilary Robinson to support our learning on the subject.
I was so very proud of the children on Remembrance Day. We had our 2 minute silence in our classroom whilst holding the poppies that each child had created. Each poppy had a word on it that the children thought described our Armed Forces- strong, protect, brave etc. Every child bowed their head and thought about those that had lost their lives and those who protect us today. We also harvested some poppy seeds and spread them in our allotment plot. It was a very moving moment for us all. Hopefully we will see the poppies bloom next year, both at school and from the seeds the children harvested to bring home.
I am sure you have all heard about our friendship bracelet task. This week has also been the dedicated Anti-bullying Week nationwide and as a part of that Hatchmere partnering up with a friend and listening to their colour choices. Partners sat together to make some very gorgeous jewellery, and it was wonderful to listen to their chats. What a fabulous activity.
Today we have had a visit from Delamere to teach Hatchmere the nursery rhyme ‘Little Bo Beep’. We had lots of fun with our Delamere friends learning the rhyme with the accompanying actions.
Hatchmere looked fabulous today in their own clothes in support of Children In Need. It was lovely to hear the comparisons and compliments between friends.
