Hello Hatchmerians.
We had an exciting start to the week with an Air Ambulance landing on our school field, right next to our classroom. It was very noisy and made the fallen Autumn leaves swirl around. The children were invited by the pilot to have a close-up look and have their picture taken in front of it. Lots of children noticed the Poppy on the front of the helicopter and told the pilot all about our class remembrance service.
I was so very proud of the children on Remembrance Day. We had our 2 minute silence in our classroom whilst holding our Poppies. Each poppy had a word on it that the children thought described our Armed Forces- strong, protect, brave etc. Every child bowed their head and thought about those that had lost their lives and those protect us today. We gave thanks to have such courageous people working so hard to keep us safe.
The children have written their first independent sentence this week. As part of their Drawing Club tasks they had to create their own trap for the Big Bad Wolf – we used the sentence model of ‘I would make a ____ trap’. They had lots of fab ideas: fire, shark, jail and being eaten up by a sperm whale.
Well done to our competition winners picked by our Junior Road Safety Officers. Two Hatchmere children came away with prizes this week! Great work.
I am sure you have all heard about our friendship bracelet task. Hatchmere’s focus during anti-bullying week was - Celebrating friendships; Kind words/kind actions. The children really enjoyed partnering up with a friend and listening to their colour choices. Partners sat together to make some very gorgeous jewellery and it was wonderful to listen to their chats. What a fabulous activity.
Hatchmere looked fabulous today in their own clothes in support of Children In Need. It was lovely to hear the comparisons and compliments between friends. The children were excited to have a class picture all together on the equipment, you can find it below.
