Phew....it has been a warm couple of days in Hatchmere.
The Evil Pea has been tormenting us this week! He is causing such a kafuffle in our classroom! Never fear…I am not worried one little bit because I have met Super Speedy Runner, Starlight, Spider Girl, and so many other Hatchmerian Superheroes. I know they will find a way to trap Evil Pea and put an end to his very naughty deeds!
This week Hatchmere have written their comments to add to their very first school reports. They wrote a sentence about what they hope to learn in Sandymere, I am excited for you all to read them.
The children’s first transition session went well and I am happy to report that all of Hatchmere have spoken positively about it. They are so looking forward to becoming big Year Ones in September (even if I’m not quite ready to let them go!).
Our number bond robots have been hard at work using their fingers to work out number bonds to 5 and 10. Lots of children are now having automatic recall of these number facts. We have also explored subtraction. We know that if we add numbers together the whole number is bigger than its 2 parts, and if we take away the number gets smaller.
Hatchmere have enjoyed a World Cup themed day today. We have explored flags alongside our world map and some children chose to look carefully at flag colours and replicate them in a spot of colouring in. We are really getting to know our Wake and Shake dance based on the World Cup song - Dai Dai. I will share it with you all next week Hatchmere have also listened to and sang ‘Three Lions’...fingers crossed it really is coming home this year!! We have our flags up in support.
Hatchmere have truly let their light shine before others this week by working together as teamwork-focused superheroes to solve problems, showing perseverance and confidence in their maths learning, and demonstrating kindness and encouragement as they celebrated each other’s ideas and achievements.
Enjoy the weekend! There has been lots of talk of paddling pools being blown up at home in the classroom today, so have fun!
