Hello Hatchmerians. 

I’m sure you have heard all about the different lessons that the children take part in in Reception this week. From phonics, to drawing club, maths and understanding of the world…we have had lots to do! The children are learning to become independent in preparation for their learning (gathering resources and organising their learning area), they are like a well-oiled machine in their phonics lessons already. I am so proud of them! 

We have continued our focus of emotions for this week’s Drawing Club. The children have been learning about lots of different kinds of emotions and created a colour monster of their very own. They decided what emotion they would be and picked their own colour. The class embraced calmness today as we took part in a Cosmic Yoga session. Ahhhhhh, we were so relaxed! Namaste.  During our maths lesson the children learned what subitising meant (knowing how many in a small group without counting). We played a really fun subitising game and the children were so surprised that they knew how many dots were on the screen without even counting. Super job Hatchmere. 

Collective Worship and singing assembly have been a huge hit with the children. They have been joining the whole school in the hall and showing everyone just how fantastic they are at listening and singing. Everyone has been very impressed by them.
