Hatchmere's Class Blog 20.5.22

Hello Hatchmerians.
What a busy week we have had! We started off with our Teddy Bears Picnic trip to Delamere Forest. The children were amazing. They were so well behaved that everyone we came across, the bus driver, the forest ranger, the ladies in the café and a grandad out for a walk, complimented us on how lovely our class was. They were so enthusiastic about everything but I do think the den building was their favourite.
We have been writing about our trip and I know the parents who have seen the writing this week have been very impressed with our children’s literacy skills. They have also used their creative skills to rewrite the Bear Hunt and make it all about their class trip.
Maths this week involved the children exploring the concept of more and fewer/less. The children did an excellent job of counting carefully to decide which amount was more and which had the fewest. The more or less numberline game was very popular this week with the winners receiving 5 RTs! Our whole class number line challenge was to beat 31 seconds, and Hatchmere absolutely smashed it with a new record of 19 seconds! I wonder if we can beat this time next week.
We were very fortunate to have Mr Bearcroft from The Academy come and teach us in PE this week. Hatchmere had so much fun in the races he created and we can’t wait for him to return next week. In addition to this, Hatchmere have also been practicing their minion dance to perform at Dfest in June and their performance poetry of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’.
See you next week.
