Welcome back Hatchmere!

This week is the first week of the Summer term. The children were excited to share their Easter news with us this week and have produced some fabulous independent writing that tells us all about their various adventures during the holidays. I have added a selection to the gallery below so that you may feast your eyes upon their amazing writing/spelling/sentence formation progress.

I am sure Hatchmere have been full of excitement telling you about the bear that has found it’s way into our classroom! We were very worried that he may be lost so everyone was inspired to make a ‘FOUND’ poster to hang up around the school to see if anyone recognised him. What fabulous description words were used: furry, chunky, small tail, brown, shaggy, white, brown nose. Surely someone will recognise him?

In Maths this week the child have continued to explore odd and even numbers. Ask you child what is the difference between an odd and even number. Ask if they can share 3 sweets with you fairly. Does that mean that the number 3 is an odd or and equal number? The children have also been challenged to find out their classmates favourite colours and to create a tally sheet to record their findings. It was very important work and Hatchmere looked like official mathematicians walking around the classroom with their clipboards!

As you can see from the pictures below the Hatchmere skipping ‘team’ have been practicing their basic skipping skills. All of the children in Hatchmere will have the opportunity to practice skipping and improve their fitness (if Mrs Teece’s knees hold out :0)) Do they have a skipping rope at home to practice with? Could you show them how you can skip? We would love to hear all about family skipping sessions. Mrs Kelly has also been taking groups of children outside to teach them the game of Bulldog! There has been lots of ducking, diving and laughing! The children are learning about team games and good sportsmanship.  Alongside this, Hatchmere also have 2 PE lessons in school each week where we can feel our heat pumping and getting stronger. Phew, I’m getting tired just thinking about all that exercise.
