Hatchmere's Class Blog 23.5.25

Date: 22nd May 2025 @ 10:01am

We have had a fun-filled week in Hatchmere.

Well done to our very first Hatchmerian who has received a GOLD reading award, the first in our school to do so (35 weeks of reading at least 4 x week), and, another SILVER award was given out also! Reading superstars.

The children have been re-writing the story of Silly Doggy in their own words. We have seen, fantastic sentence planning, beautiful handwriting and excellent sounding out. Well done Hatchmere!

Each day this week, the leaders have chosen which Wake and Shake song we should dance too...each day has been different. I have added the links below to each dance chosen. We love our morning Wake and Shakes and the children are becoming excellent dancers!

On Thursday the children were lucky to have a local gymnastic athlete, Alisha Evanson, visit them and talk about their life and career. This fit beautifully with our focus of Staying Healthy and Hatchmere were able to link their understanding of the topic to an inspiring and successful person. We were then thoroughly inspired to try out our gymnastic abilities and I captured some great pictures of their efforts.

Lots of our Maths activities this week involved using our skills to solve a problem, discuss and reason with a partner and develop our understanding of ordination. I think the children surprised themselves with their mathematical skills and knowledge this week!

Our Teddy Bears Picnic was a success! The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing their class book, Silly Doggy by Adam Stower, with their adults. Thank you to our fabulous Hatchmerian families for a joining us for a lovely afternoon.
