Hatchmere's Class Blog 24.1.25

Hello from a windswept Hatchmere!

The children loved thinking of games that they might like to play with Dougal from our Drawing Club stimulus. We had hide and seek, races, Lego, jigsaw puzzles and popping bubbles. I'm sure he would have lots of fun with our children. During literacy Hatchmere have been thinking about how they might feel if they were waiting for the bus, and it drove straight past them. As part of their supported writing task Hatchmere wrote down where they might be going. The children were very careful to use finger spaces to aid their re-reading of their sentence.

Hatchmere are ready for our Chinese New Year celebrations. In R.E the children learned about this special festival and created their own dragon! They are now ready to take their learning into their play and activities next week.

In maths the children have enjoyed exploring the number 6 and its place within a number line. We have had beautiful letter formation, number block creations and a game of 'what’s one more than?'. The children understood that to add '1 more', the number needs to get bigger.

I was sorry that I forgot to take the camera outside with me this morning. The children had a whale of a time with the ribbons, scarves and windsocks. There were screams of delight as they watched their material blow in the wind! They had to keep tight hold the wind was so strong. I thoroughly enjoyed it, what a gorgeous sight!
