Hatchmere's Class Blog 24.3.23

Date: 24th Mar 2023 @ 3:06pm

Our leaping lambs have been learning lots this week...

Hatchmere have been writing instructions on how to construct a Bog Baby! They have used sequencing language to explain how they made theirs: First, next, now, after and last. Anybody that visits our classroom can now follow the children’s directions to create their own magical creature. Well done Hatchmere!

Our mathematics focus’ this week has been exploring the number 8 and writing our numbers up to 13. The children have also been challenged to look for similarities between colours, shapes and sizes. Can your child explain to you what a stopping number is? We would love to know what they say.

You may have heard the children talking about the artist Henri Matisse. They have been inspired to use his layering and colour-blocking techniques to construct their own ponds! They are really starting to take shape so keep your eyes peeled for the finished product.

It has been lovely to see the children bringing in the learning that they have done at home surrounding our spring focus in class. We have had a playdough model of a pond, with frogspawn, tadpoles, frogs and ducks. Alongside this we have had a 3D model of the lifecycle of a frog with working pulleys! How fabulous!

Lastly, Hatchmere have, today, completed their leaping lamb course. They zoomed around the obstacle course and tried their very best! Sweaty heads and big smiles returned, proudly, to the classroom.

Have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday to begin our final week of the Spring term.
