Hatchmere's Class Blog 26.5.23

It is half term and look at this beautiful weather!

We have reached the end of Summer Term 1 and what a fabulous term it has been. The children have been accumulating lots of their learning and are producing some fabulous work/creations within the classroom. Many of our Hatchmere adults were blown away with their child’s latest writing piece during the consultation evenings. Capital letters, neat handwriting, careful sounding out and full stops. Their progress from September has been phenomenal. Not only that but recently the children have been full of questions, questions, questions so they have been challenged to write their questions down to ask in show and tell. We have had questions for friends (Why do you like drawing?), class teachers (How many pets do you have?) and even Mrs Snowdon (What colour shoes are you wearing?). We have had lots of fun answering them.

Hatchmere have really started to develop their knowledge of number. They can now look at number, identify it and explain a fact related to that number (odd, even, number bonds, one more/less, double). This is giving them a firm foundation to begin their number work in Year 1.

We have had lots and lots of outdoor play and I am sure you have heard all about our new huge sandpit. The children have been working on their balance bikes and we have seen fabulous progress, Hatchmere's confidence is really soaring. The children still continue to develop their skipping skills using a rope and ball control/games are improving nicely.

Have a wonderful half term, take full advantage of this glorious weather and we will see you back here on Monday 5th June.
