The children have been true champions this week! Being hot and sweaty is not nice, but we have all managed to work together to stay calm and take lots oppurtunities to cool ourselves down and stay safe in the sun. I'm very proud of you Hatchmere!
The Evil Pea has continued to torment us, but the traps are working! We have caught 5 of those pesky peas already. Mrs Snowdon is receiving a letter from each child to report on just what those annoying little veggies have been up to – they put Mrs Teece’s chair in the Muga, they pea’d all over our classroom, tipped out all of our sand and water tray toys and took all of the children’s chairs outside! We’ve had enough!
Our mathematicians have been hard at work exploring number and working out which numbers were odd and even. We have used the terms double, equal and share in our investigations. The children have also been re-visiting shapes, using 2D and 3D shapes to create a picture with their teams. Remember, ‘2D shapes are flat, 3D shapes are fat’ - ask your child to show you the actions for to go along with the phrase.
Our Tuesday Sports Day was a huge success and all the children had smiles on their faces as they talked about their achievements with their friends. Although it’s not the winning that matters but the taking part, Mrs Teece will be celebrating her tug of war win for quite some time.
Our Agents of Change held a school assembly to teach us about the impact of plastics in our oceans. Hatchmere used the opportunity to evaluate and discuss the topic in a way that helped them to also cool down. We created our own oceans and the children talked about the importance of habitats and what we should and should not see in our oceans. We gathered the plastics and materials to create a cleaner and safer environment for our wonderful sea creatures. Thank you, Agents of Change!
Thank you to our Hatchmerian who won ice pops for the whole class with their Johnka Bar Golden Ticket! It could not have come at a better time. Even Miss Dyson got in on the action.
Hatchmere have really enjoyed their World Cup themed Wake n Shake but unfortunatley over the past few days it has been too hot to dance to. Please pop it on for them at home so they can show you their moves.
This week, Hatchmere have truly let their light shine before others by showing resilience and teamwork in tackling the Evil Pea, demonstrating kindness and responsibility in caring for our oceans and habitats, and celebrating one another’s efforts and achievements during Sports Day with joy and encouragement.
Enjoy your (much cooler, hopefully) weekend.
