Hatchmere's Class Blog 28.11.25

Date: 27th Nov 2025 @ 3:09pm

Fair warning…the ‘C’ word will be used in abundance from next week!

We have had 4 more children receive their Orange reading award this week! Keep going Hatchmere, reading is the key to learning, well done all.

We have opened up our Hatchmere Bakery and our chefs have been hard at work creating their own baked goods to sell. The children have made salt dough and painted some very appetizing looking cakes/biscuits. Yummy.

The class have shared The Gingerbread Man story this week and are very excited to be designing, then making and baking our own Gingerbread Man. Rolling pins at the ready for next week, Hatchmere.

Our imaginations have been on fire! Our Outside classroom has been transformed onto an obstacle course. The children have been using lots of positional language (over, under, through, across and up) as they traversed the muddy mountain (mud kitchen) and the golden ocean (sand pit). We’ve had loads of fun.

Hatchmere’s number detectives have been hard at work investigating the different parts of a whole. We looked at the parts of our friends and different animals to explore the part-part-whole model. This was then transferred to number. We can talk confidently about the different parts of numbers 1-5 using our part-part-whole action (hand, hand, clap).

Herbie Hatchmere has brought us some gorgeous books and the children look forward to opening his gift every day! I think our most favourite story this week was The Wonky Donkey.
