I think we are being blown into February!
Well done to our reading award winners today. We had lots of children being celebrated at the front of the hall during collective worship today! You are all reading rockstars!
Have you heard about what the Naughty Bus has continually been getting up to in our classroom!? He has been making such a mess! Every morning, we have come into chaos. Hatchmere have got right to work writing a letter to Jack’s Mum (from our focus text) to tell her that the Naughty Bus has been naughty here too!
The King and Queen (knitted) have visited the Hatchmere classroom this week to explain all about the Monarchy and their role in our lives. We found out where they live and who their family are. It has been so interesting and really caught the children’s imagination.
As part of our ‘Understanding of the World’ we have taken a (YouTube) drive around Winsford. We compared what we saw with what we might see in London. The children were quick to notice that there were no ‘tall buildings in Winsford, but that there were “small” and “medium” ones. The children talked excitedly about the directions for their house using the words left and right. They enjoyed pointing out the different places that were familiar to them – Asda, Aldi, Our School, Over St Johns Church, River Weaver and the Marina. I really enjoyed listening to them chatting away confidently to their friends about their local area. Super Stuff Hatchmere.
We had some lovely afternoon sun on Wednesday, so we picked up our things and had a picnic outside, some children were even inspired to create their own beach to relax on, I was very tempted to join them!
The children have been advocating for themselves in some role-play activities this week. It is important that each child learns how important their voices are. The children gave opinions, information and resolutions to conflict in various scenarios. I am so proud of how confidently they spoke, using their voices clearly and with purpose.
As you know, Hatchmere take advantage of the wonderful Numberblocks short videos and characters in their maths learning. I thought I would add a link to the series here for you to access at home. It is an excellent way to support your childs learning through fun, short, educational and age appropriate content: Numberblocks
Enjoy your weekend,
