Hatchmere's Class Blog 3.7.26

I think it is fair to say that Hatchmere have achieved quite a lot this week!
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the forest! We walked the Room on the Broom trail AND The Gruffallo trail. Along the way we collected ‘wands’ to decorate in the classroom and walked over a troll bridge. Hatchmere walked around 5k and were complaining of tired feet until they saw the new play park 😉Mrs Snowdon joined Hatchmere for their trek and she was blown away by the children’s behaviour, resilience and observations of their environment. Also joining us was Mrs Starsiak, Mr Dufty and my daughter, Isabelle. Thank you all for making the trip such a success...we’ll pencil you in for next time.
Our literacy lessons this week saw the children using their describing skills to explain what Supertato looks like and what he is like as a hero. They were able to demonstrate confident use of a capital letter and full stop alongside their beautiful handwriting. It is wonderful to see the children take such pride in their presentation. You will also be glad to hear that the children have managed to finally capture and contain those Evil Peas…we will all be glad not to have to tidy up after their shenanigans in our classroom.
In maths the children have been exploring the pattern of counting up to and beyond 20. We have played lots of counting games going forwards and backwards and the children are so good at it, I haven't been able to catch them out...yet! They have been showing me what they know about numbers, it is amazing how many different things they can tell me about the number 5 (odd number, 1 more than 4, 1 less than 6, 3+2 = 5, 5+0 =5, double 5 is 10).
Hatchmere’s transition sessions have been a huge success. The children have loved having these sessions and are full of positivity about moving on to Y1 and the Sandymere classroom. Next Thursday will be their last transition session before the end of term.
Hatchmere have truly let their light shine before others this week through their excellent behaviour and resilience on the forest trip, their pride and care in their learning and presentation, and their positive attitudes and encouragement of one another during transition sessions
Phew, I think they (and us) deserve a rest this weekend.
