Hatchmere's Class Blog 5.12.25

We have had a lovely week in Hatchmere.
The Gingerbread Man couldn’t run away from us this week! The children followed a recipe to bake him, then decorated him and ate him all up, just like the fox. Yum, yum.
Our class Christmas tree has been creatively decorated each day this week. Lots of tinsel one day, baubles the next and even father christmas, elves and Mrs Christmas got in on the action. We love our class tree.
Herbie Hatchmere has continued to fetch us a new book gift each day. Hatchmere take it in turns to open the gift and to sit Herbie on their knee whilst a story is read...it’s the only way for Herbie to keep his magic!
In maths the children have been using multilink to create different patterns. We discovered that the bigger the number the more patterns we could create. We have had lots of fun with our friends showing different representations of the numbers 3,4 and 5. Hatchmere have also served porridge in small, medium and large bowls, just like in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children were using their mathematical language to explain their size order.
Our literacy task this week involved the children writing to Goldilocks to give her some advice. We planned our sentence, sounded out tricky words, used our HFW/CEW cards, looked at our sound mats to support sounds and letter formation and wrote our sentences! Lots of the children even used finger spaces. I am blown away by their eagerness to learn and apply skills. Amazing Hatchmere.
The whole class had a run through of their Nativity today, again, fabulous. We will keep practising until the big day!
