Hatchmere's Class Blog 6.10.23

Date: 6th Oct 2023 @ 3:19pm

Hello Hatchmerians,

The children are really settling into their morning routine and are enjoying taking part in our Collective Worship and Singing Assemblies. The gates open at 8.35am and that gives the children plenty of time to independently organise themselves (coats, bags, snacks and toilet) for the register and lunch choices at 8.45am and then down to the main building for 8.50am. Mrs Snowdon has been very impressed with their ability to join in with the worship and assembly songs. Well done Hatchmere.

The children have been challenged to re-tell the story of the Gingerbread Man to the adults in their classroom. We have had some gorgeous language with the children remembering large sections of the text including the GBM rhyme….’Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man!’

Following on from our GBM man theme, we have been talking about and exploring our class Christian value of ‘Friendship’. We thought the GBM was probably running away because everyone was trying to eat him! We thought that the GBM had visited our classroom looking for some friends and we talked about what being a friend means. Hatchmere were determined to show the GBM that they were good friends and that he was safe with them.

Our Mathematicians have been exploring the composition of 1, 2, 3, and 4. We have been using our mathematical language to explain the ‘1 and another 1 makes 2’, ‘1 and another 1 and another 1 makes 3’. Some of the beady eyed among us have also noticed that some other numbers are hiding inside numbers! ‘1 and 2 makes 3’ and ‘1 and 3 makes 4’. Very good investigating skills Hatchmere.

You have received an invitation to a reading skills meeting next week. Please reply to the invite as soon as you can, thank you.
