We have had a gorgeous start for the New Year and new term!
How beautiful was the snow!? Hatchmere thoroughly enjoyed getting bundled up and going outside to learn and create in the snow! Of course, we made snowballs, snowmen and some of the children even made snow angels. We listened carefully to the sounds our feet made when we were walking, the children all agreed that it sounded very crunchy. Hatchmere spotted some animal footprints in the snow and we followed them to see if we could find the culprit, the children were sure it was the naughty cat! We didn’t manage to find it though (Miss Dyson was relieved). Last but not least, we shovelled a load of snow into a bucket and brought it into our classroom to play with and observe…ask you child what happened to it and why.
The children have discussed the differences in their Christmas holiday experiences. It was lovely to hear Hatchmere excited to listen to the way their friends had spent their Christmas break. We had some going to grandparents’ houses, some having a party for New Years eve, some going sledging and some allowed to stay up late! We wrote about what our favourite thing was in our literacy books.
Miss Boydell has been blown away by the childrens skill and sportsmanship in P.E. this week. She was very impressed with their attention, focus and effort. The children all received raffle tickets as a reward. Super stuff Hatchmere!
In Maths this week we have re-visited previous learning and built upon it by looking at the relationship between 2D shapes and their 3D counterparts. The children have also enjoyed showing off their number formation to 5 (0,1,2,3,4,5). Hatchmere are becoming confident mathematicians, and they enjoy showing of their number skills. We had a Hatchmere Vs Mrs Teece quick quiz, with the children celebrating an easy win against their teacher! I have a feeling it won't be so easy next time..mwah ha ha ha!
Well done to this week's reading award winners! Would you belive that we are now onto our Green rainbow award!? I have a feeling a few of our children will receiving them next week. We are very excited about it.
