Head Teacher Blog: Friday 10th May 2019

Date: 13th May 2019 @ 10:03am

We have completed our focus on St Paul this week in Collective Worship and thought about him as ‘St Paul the Hero’ – how he overcame many challenges in his life, how he didn’t feel that he would be any good at spreading the Good News but went on to write over half of the books in the New Testament! We talked about how we can learn from St. Paul’s example by not being afraid to speak out and keep trying in the face of adversity so that we can all be the best versions of ourselves that we can be.

Sports Update

Firstly, eight of our Year 5 children had a great time at The Winsford Academy a couple of weeks ago playing dodgeball. We were expecting to play a series of matches but as there was only one other school, we played non-stop friendly matches for the whole afternoon. The children were exhausted by the time they had finished but it was great fun!

Also, we're really looking forward to welcoming paralympian basketball player, Anna Jackson, to the school on Monday 20th May. Anna will show the children how to improve their 'sporting personal best'. Please sponsor your child to take part in the morning's activities. You can fill in the paper sponsorship form that was sent home recently or go online: https://www.sportsforschools.org/event/sfs122/ Thank you to those of you who've already signed up!

Staff have had their final twilight session this week around Mini Me Yoga and focussed in particular on meditation – breathing techniques, visualising and believe it or not, colouring! We are now fully trained and are in the process of collating evidence so that we are on track working towards becoming a Mini Me Yoga accredited school – watch this space!

Please remember Oliver in Year 1 in your thoughts and prayers. Oliver was involved in a car accident on his way home from school on Friday and whilst he has sustained an injury, he is okay, but we won’t be seeing him in school for a little while. I am certain that you will all join with me in sending Oliver lots of love and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
