KS2 SATs
A huge well done to all our children in Year 6 as they have completed their SATs this week. They have had a number of papers over the course of the week for English and Maths and they have taken them all in their stride with a fantastically positive attitude. Their cheer as they finished their last one yesterday after the papers had been collected was a joy to hear! Well done Year 6.
They enjoyed a game of 'Hunt the Hoodie' this afternoon as they received their Leaver's Hoodies - a gift from the school - you will see them wearing them proudly over their last couple of months as they meld to their bodies because they refuse to take them off, even in the heat!
Walk to School Week
Our Junior Safety Officers, Lauren, Oliver and Seth would like to ask for your help. Next week is Walk to School week and they would like to try and encourage as many children as they can to walk to school. They shall be carrying out a survey each day to see how many children have been walking to school. I have attached their poster below which is to promote Walk to School Week.
Half Term Activities - Reminder
During the next half-term break, New Images Youth and Community Centre will be offering 2 free sessions for young people. The opportunities include learning to ride a bike (delivered by BikeRight) and basic first aid sessions (delivered by the British Red Cross).
There are two posters attached below which provide more detail on what the sessions will cover along with how parents can reserve their child's free place(s), but numbers will be limited for each group.
First aid is vital for young people and a potentially lifesaving skill whilst learning to ride a bike is also such an important part of childhood - helping young people with their co-ordination, balance and confidence!

#WakeUpWednesday
Statistics from the Children’s Commissioner found that in the 2022/23 academic year, 22.3% of all pupils were persistently absent – a significant increase from 2018/19, when that figure was 10.9%. This lost time can have a notable impact on children’s development, learning and overall wellbeing.
The specific reasons for school avoidance are sometimes hard to pin down – and it can be even harder to know how best to help absent children return to education. That’s why this week, our Wake up Wednesday guide breaks down some of the causes and effects of school avoidance and provides advice on how you can help young people triumph over this potentially damaging cycle.

School Dinners
School dinners cost £3 per day, £15 per week. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive free meals as part of the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme. Dinner money must be paid in advance via School Spider.
If you are in receipt of benefits and think that you may be entitled to free school meals, please click here for more information and support and how to apply. It is very important to apply for free schools meals whatever year your child is in, even if you receive the UIFSM in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, as the school receives a sum of extra money to further help support your child and their education.
