Head Teacher Blog: Friday 24th May 2024
Date: 23rd May 2024 @ 1:31pm
We have had a relatively quiet week in school this week whilst all keeping very busy with our usual activities. The weather has been rather strange and the children have had to spend a bit of time indoors at breaktimes – let’s hope the lovely weather from last weekend returns for the holidays!
Pupil Consultation Evenings
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Pupil Consultation Evenings this week. The evenings are one of three opportunities throughout the school year when you are able to talk to your child’s class teacher about how they are getting on in school. As a school, we offer three opportunities a year as opposed to most schools who only offer one or two. If you have been unable to attend, please contact your child’s class teacher for an update.
Please may I request in future that if you do make a booking and are unable to make it, that you contact the office at the earliest opportunity so that staff are able to re-direct their time in a more useful way during the appointment? Thank you for your support with this.

Well done to Sandymere with their fantastic attendance this week.

#WakeUpWednesday
A study from the British Psychological Society found that the majority of children (71%) had at least one close friend as early as five years old. These connections can form rather quickly and develop with equal speed. At such a young age, it can be remarkable how suddenly two children can hit it off with one another.
However, it is deeply important that children can recognise both the features of a healthy relationship, as well as the potential signs of a less healthy dynamic. This week’s #WakeUpWednesday guide offers some top tips on reinforcing the formation of healthy friendships among children and young people.
Half Term Activities
There are lots of activities and swimming sessions during the half term at the Lifestyle Centre, including a swimming crash course which is great for children to learn water safety and swimming skills. Please take a look at the flyer below if you are interested.
School Dinners
School dinners cost £3 per day, £15 per week. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive free meals as part of the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme. Dinner money must be paid in advance via School Spider.
If you are in receipt of benefits and think that you may be entitled to free school meals, please click here for more information and support and how to apply. It is very important to apply for free schools meals whatever year your child is in, even if you receive the UIFSM in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, as the school receives a sum of extra money to further help support your child and their education.
