RobinWood Residential

My goodness – what a fabulous time the children in Year 3 and 4 had on their residential to RobinWood this week! I have heard they climbed, paddled, swung, ate, danced and generally had a huge amount of fun! My thanks to Mrs Kelly, Mr Pasquill and Miss Dyson who volunteered their own time to take the children away and for ensuring that the children had a fantastic time. As I said last week, RobinWood was a new centre for us but they are most definitely a centre that we will be going back to as they gave the children such a wonderful experience. I bet there were some very tired children on Wednesday who will be having a much-needed lie in tomorrow morning!

Attendance

We have had much better attendance this week and 4 of our 6 classes have made it over 96% - well done! Special mention to Hatchmere with the highest attendance this week.

Hatchmere         99.52%

Sandymere         90.00%

Delamere            96.84%

Oakmere             98.00%

Linmere               97.08%

Blakemere          94.07%

#WakeUpWednesday

Quality merchandise. Fair prices. What’s not to love? The possibility of bagging a bargain and the ability to sell your own unwanted items have made online marketplaces like Vinted and Depop into an attractive option for anyone looking to save money or make a little extra cash for themselves in these challenging economic times. Unfortunately, however, these services (and numerous others like them) can still be misused by scammers, so it pays to remain vigilant for the risks associated with shopping apps. Fortunately, this week’s #WakeUpWednesday guide is on hand with some helpful pointers to protect young people and yourself, from potential exploitation while doing business with others online.

Teaching Assistant Course

We have received some information about an upcoming L2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course which is due to start in September 2024 and finishes in July 2025. The course providers have had two successful years delivering the course to learners from all over Cheshire West and Chester and all learners have secured jobs either during or after studying the course. I have attached two flyers below - one flyer is generally about the course and the other gives details of an upcoming information session which is due to be held at the Work Zone on Friday 31st May.

School Dinners

School dinners cost £3 per day, £15 per week. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive free meals as part of the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme.  Dinner money must be paid in advance via School Spider.

If you are in receipt of benefits and think that you may be entitled to free school meals, please click here for more information and support and how to apply. It is very important to apply for free schools meals whatever year your child is in, even if you receive the UIFSM in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, as the school receives a sum of extra money to further help support your child and their education.

Absence during Term Time

Please may I remind you that schools are not allowed to authorise pupil holidays in term time. Any child going on holiday in term time will receive an unauthorised absence. Our registers are regularly checked by the Education Welfare Service and parents may be issued with a fine from the Local Authority for unauthorised absence, which is currently £60 per child, per parent and this rises to £120 if paid after 21 days but within 28 days.
