Head Teacher Blog: Friday 29th April 2022

Date: 29th Apr 2022 @ 1:29pm

It’s a boy! Some lovely news to start my blog this week – Mrs Rutherford gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on Monday. Mum and son are both doing fine and we are all looking forward to some future cuddles!

When arriving to school in the morning, please may I remind everyone of the importance of keeping safe at the front of the building? There are larger numbers of people arriving before the gate opens at 8.35am and a number of children are running and playing games at the front. Delamere Street is a busy road and cars also need access to the road up to our car park. The register is taken at 8.45am and the gate opens at 8.35am for children to enter the building, so there is no real need to arrive before 8.35am. If for some reason you have to, please may you remind the children of the importance of waiting patiently with their adult in this area? Thank you for your support with this.

#WakeUpWednesday

Many people prefer group chats to wider social networking platforms, which involve a relentless stream of updates from our contacts – regardless of whether we actually want to know what they’ve been up to. By contrast, group chats offer us greater control over who we communicate with and more privacy while we’re doing it.

That doesn’t mean, however, that they’re without jeopardy. The pressure of contributing to a conversation that lots of other people can see and comment on can make group chats an incredibly stressful situation for young users – and that’s far from the only potential risk. This week’s #WakeUpWednesday guide highlights what trusted adults need to be aware of.

Memorial Mile Walk

On Saturday 21st May, the Memorial Mile Walk returns to Winsford. This is a family event to help bring the community together to remember all those who have been lost. There are further details on the poster attached below, so do please get in touch via the details on the poster, if you would like to take part.

Now Northwich 2022 - Reminder

Now Northwich is back on Saturday 30th April 2022! Produced by Cheshire Dance, Now Northwich is an international dance and street arts festival that will be taking place for the third time on 30th April across Northwich Town Centre and Barons Quay from 11.30am til late. This is a fantastic opportunity for families to experience a variety of arts over a 12 hour period for free.

School Dinners

School dinners cost £2.34 per day, £11.70 per week. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive free meals as part of the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme.  Dinner money must be paid in advance via School Spider.

If you are in receipt of benefits and think that you may be entitled to free school meals, please click here for more information and support and how to apply. It is very important to apply for free school meals whatever year your child is in, even if you receive the UIFSM in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, as the school receives a sum of extra money to further help support your child and their education.

Absence during Term Time

Please may I remind you that schools are not allowed to authorise pupil holidays in term time. Any child going on holiday in term time will receive an unauthorised absence. Our registers are regularly checked by the Education Welfare Service and parents may be issued with a fine from the Local Authority for unauthorised absence, which is currently £60 per child, per parent and this rises to £120 if paid after 21 days but within 28 days.
