Head Teacher Blog: Friday 29th March 2019

Date: 29th Mar 2019 @ 1:54pm

We have reached the end of another very busy term and I don’t know where the time goes! This afternoon, we gave out our attendance certificates (medals to follow!) in our assembly and the children have done so well in spite of the bout of chicken pox that seems to have to have gone through every class. We have had 29 children, which is 20%, who achieved a silver medal for attendance at and above 98% and 32 children, which is 23%, who have had 100% attendance this term achieving a gold medal and certificate. As a school, we take attendance very seriously as children cannot make progress if they are not here and it is important that we work in partnership with parents and carers to promote good attendance.

On Wednesday, Linmere enjoyed a day at the Lifestyle Centre, organised by the Winsford Education Partnership, as part of our Raising Aspirations work to children thinking about careers in the manufacturing industry. The children worked really well in teams to design an eco car of the future and a shipping container – which could be linked to the car. They then had to work together to make model versions of their designs and then present all their ideas and designs to all the other schools at the end. I heard that the children did a fantastic job, developing employability skills of working as a team, listening to and respecting each other’s ideas as well as developing their knowledge of the manufacturing industry. Well done Linmere!

Oakmere enjoyed a day out to Barclay’s bank yesterday where they learnt about building future skills in looking after their money and thinking about jobs for the future. The children all had a fantastic day – especially as lunch was provided and good bags were received – and, like Linmere, learnt some very valuable skills and developed their knowledge for the future.
