Linmere Blog 5th June 2026

Date: 5th Jun 2026 @ 1:03pm

Wow doesn’t a 4‑day week fly by! It has certainly been an interesting week in Years 4 and 5.

With most of our Year 5 children away at Conway, it has been lovely to hear about all the exciting activities they have been enjoying (please see the separate blogs for more details!). Meanwhile, the remaining children fully embraced their new identity as “Blinmere” and made the most of their time in school.

WEP Interfaith Week – Rangoli Patterns
As part of WEP Interfaith Week, we had a fantastic time learning about Rangoli patterns. The children explored the meaning behind these patterns, made a fact sheet about the patterns and created their own colourful designs.
It was wonderful to see their creativity shine, as well as the respect they showed when learning about different cultures and traditions.

Maths – Applying Our Knowledge
In Maths, we focused on consolidating key skills and applying them to a range of word problems. The children had to think carefully about which strategies to use, drawing on their prior learning.
They showed great perseverance and resilience, really taking the time to work through each problem. It was lovely to see them supporting one another and explaining their thinking and helping everyone to succeed.

HappyMinds – Keeping Our Brains Healthy
We also continued our HappyMinds learning, focusing on how to keep our brains healthy. The children explored the importance of:
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Eating a balanced diet
  • Reducing screen time
  • Taking part in regular exercise
These discussions have been really valuable, helping the children to understand how to look after themselves so they can be ready to learn and let their light shine each day.

Year 4 Multiplication Check
A huge well done to our Year 4 children, who have been absolute stars completing their Multiplication Check. We are so proud of the effort, focus and determination they have shown. What a fantastic achievement!

Art – New Project

We are also excited to be starting a new art project over the coming weeks. For this, we will need lots of natural and recycled materials, including different twigs and sticks of varying lengths and thicknesses, as well as pieces of recyclable materials. If you are able to, please could you start collecting these items at home and send them into school. The children are really looking forward to creating something special together!

It may have been a short week, but it has been filled with creativity, resilience and positivity. Well done to all of the children, we are very proud of you! 🌟

Quick HomeLearning Reminders

A few regular routines make a big difference to your child’s learning.

📚 Reading

Please aim for four reading sessions each week. Short, relaxed reads are perfect.

✖️ Times Tables

Regular timestable practice helps build confidence. A few minutes each day works well.

✏️ Spellings

Practicing the spellings and meanings at home really supports them in the classroom.
