Linmere Blog: Friday 26th September 2025

Date: 26th Sep 2025 @ 3:18pm

What a fantastic week it’s been in Linmere! We’ve been stretching our brains, getting creative, and even flying through the air (safely, of course!). From super sentences to soggy science, it’s been a whirlwind of learning and laughter.

✏️ English Super Sentences!

This week in English, we’ve been mastering the art of extending our sentences using subordinating conjunctions like becausealthough, and when. We’ve also explored modal verbs such as shouldmight, and must.

Mrs. Skelley has been sneaking modal verbs into her instructions all week!
“You should finish your work!”
“You must not forget your capital letters or I’ll turn into a Grammar Gremlin!” πŸ˜„
Can you spot any more modal verbs in this blog?

πŸ“š Reading Reminder

Don’t forget, you should be reading at least four times a week and logging it on the online system.

Mrs. Skelley says:
“You must log your reading or your brilliant book adventures might vanish into a void forever!” πŸ“–βœ¨

πŸ”’ Maths – Rounding Up the Fun

In Maths, we’ve been rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, and 1000. We’ve also tackled some lovely reasoning problems, using our number knowledge to explain our thinking clearly.

Mrs. Skelley says:
“You must check your answers, even if you’re 99.9% sure!” βœ…
Great job, everyone!

🎨 Science – Evaporation Art

Science got creative this week! We made evaporation art using water, food colouring, and salt. As our artwork dried, we discussed where the water went—it didn’t just disappear, it evaporated into the air! πŸŒ¬οΈπŸ’§

Mrs. Skelley says:
“You must be curious scientists… and yes, you may get a little soggy in the name of science!”

🀸 PE – Gymnastics Galore

In PE, we’ve continued our gymnastics journey with balancing, jumping, and even performing jumps off a box! It’s been amazing to see everyone growing in confidence and control.

Reminder: PE kits are needed on Tuesday and Friday.

Mrs. Skelley says:
“You might just be the next Olympic gymnast… but only if you remember to point your toes and smile like you’ve already won gold!” πŸ₯‡βœ¨

🎻 Music – Violins in Year 5

Year 5 have continued their violin lessons and are making fantastic progress! We’re learning how to hold the bow, play with control, and even read music.

Mrs. Skelley says:
“You must remember violins are for playing, not pretending to be rockstars!” πŸŽΆπŸ˜„

πŸ–ΌοΈ RE – Year 4’s Faith & Community Display

Year 4 have been working on a beautiful collaborative display all about faith and community. We’ve shared ideas about kindness, respect, and unity—and the results are stunning!

Mrs. Skelley says:
“You should be proud of your teamwork and your decorating skills!”

🧠 PSHE – Peer Pressure in Year 5

Year 5 had some brilliant discussions about peer pressure this week. We acted out different scenarios and explored how to make good choices—even when others might be trying to influence us.

Mrs. Skelley says:
“You must trust your instincts and you should never follow someone just because they say ‘everyone’s doing it!’”

🚲 PSHE – Bike Safety in Year 4

Year 4 have also been learning all about bike safety in PSHE. We talked about wearing helmets, checking brakes, and being aware of our surroundings when cycling. It’s so important to stay safe while having fun on two wheels!

Mrs. Snowdon says:
“You must wear your bike helmet when out cycling!” πŸͺ–πŸš΄‍♂️

πŸ… Worker of the Week & Excellent Examples

We’ve seen some truly brilliant work across the school this week! Our Worker of the Week and Excellent Examples will be added as an update on Monday when Mrs Skelley and Mrs Snowdon share them, so keep an eye out on the online system to see who’s been shining extra brightly! 🌟

Mrs. Skelley is very sorry for making all the modal verb jokes… but she might make a few more next week! πŸ˜„

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! 🌈✨
Keep smiling, keep learning, and keep being brilliant!
