What a wonderfully busy final week of the half term it has been!
Mental Health Week has been a key focus for us. The children created their own support maps to help them recognise the people and places that keep them feeling safe, supported, and understood. We also enjoyed a fantastic “Be Yourself Day” It was truly uplifting to see everyone celebrating who they are with confidence and pride.
Our English lessons have seen the completion of our biographies about Chris Hadfield. Working in groups, the children researched different aspects of his life and achievements, presented their findings to the class, and then used this knowledge to write their final pieces.
Maths lessons have centred around securing understanding of improper and mixed fractions, alongside developing reasoning skills. We have now taken the next step into adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator, and confidence is growing beautifully.
Art this week has involved evaluating our own creations and discovering more artists who use pattern in imaginative and inspiring ways. The children particularly enjoyed exploring how repetition, colour and shape can transform a piece of artwork.
In RE, the children have been learning about Hajj, the Fifth Pillar of Islam. We explored why this pilgrimage to Mecca is so important to Muslims and discussed what happens during this special journey.
Science has taken us to the night sky, where we explored the phases of the Moon and how its appearance changes over the course of a month. Using models and pictures helped us understand the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun.
PE sessions have focused on developing tactics in netball and football. The children have been practising moving into space, making accurate passes, and supporting their teammates during games. They all really enjoyed a game of netball in the fresh air with Mr. Burgess (sports coach)
Looking ahead, next half term’s Geography topic will explore sustainability, including the impact of fast fashion. We will be repurposing old T‑shirts to create eco‑friendly shopping bags. Please could each child bring an old T‑shirt after half term.
It was lovely to see so many of you at the pupil consultations this week. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Wishing you all a fantastic half term break! Hopefully, the weather will be kind so everyone can enjoy plenty of fresh air.
Have a great week everyone! 🌿✨
