What a fantastic week it’s been in our classroom! The children have been diving into their learning with enthusiasm, creativity, and curiosity across all subjects—and we’ve had some extra special moments too!

📚 English
We’ve been sharpening our grammar skills and exploring how to make our writing more powerful and precise. Pupils have been thoughtfully considering their vocabulary choices and experimenting with conjunctions to link ideas and add variety to their sentences. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they play with language and discover how small changes can make a big impact.

🔢 Maths
In Maths, we’ve been working with larger numbers—comparing, ordering, and really getting to grips with place value. The children have had plenty of opportunities to develop their problem-solving skills and explain their reasoning. Whether working independently or collaborating in pairs, they’ve shown great perseverance and creativity in tackling challenges.

💡 Fluency Focus
We’ve also continued our new fluency programme, and it’s been a real hit! The children have loved the fast-paced, focused sessions that help build confidence and accuracy with number facts. This week, they’ll be bringing home their Doubles Booklet to complete. Once finished, they can return it to school and earn 10 raffle tickets—a fun way to celebrate their hard work!

🔬 Science
In Science, we explored the concept of melting and changing states of matter. To bring the learning to life, pupils created a cartoon strip starring Lucy the Lolly! Through storytelling and illustration, children explained the science behind melting in a fun and memorable way. A huge shout-out to Suzanne and Beautiful, whose work in Science and Maths has earned a well-deserved spot on our Excellent Example Wall!

💻 Computing
In Computing, the children have made a great start to our Creating Media unit of work, which is all about vector drawings. This week, we explored what shapes a vector drawing of an owl was made up of, learnt how to copy and paste shapes, and then had a go at replicating a given vector drawing. We also remembered how to edit the colour of the shapes—a skill we learnt in our previous unit. The children tried really hard, and you can see what they came up with in the photos below!

🐾 Special Visit – Petting Zoo Fun!
One of the highlights of our week was the visit from the petting zoo! The children had a brilliant time meeting and learning about the animals. From fluffy tarantulas (!) to slippy snakes, it was a joyful and educational experience that sparked lots of questions and smiles. I think you may have some children asking for a pet skunk!  I will upload the photos to next weeks blog as there are lots of them!

🎉 Celebrations
Congratulations to Beautiful, our Worker of the Week! Your dedication and positive attitude have truly stood out. Well done!

🙏 Thank You
Thank you for your continued support at home. Whether it’s encouraging reading, chatting about number patterns, or asking your child to explain why Lucy started to drip, every little moment helps reinforce their learning. We truly appreciate all you do!

Have a fabulous weekend and see you next week!
