Linmere Class Blog: Friday 21st November 2025

We’ve had an exciting week of learning across all subjects!

English
We’ve moved on to our next topic: Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo. The children have explored details of the text, made predictions about the story, evaluated the characters, and discussed vocabulary that is appropriate for this epic tale. It’s been wonderful to see their curiosity and imagination come alive!

Maths
We wrapped up our addition and subtraction unit by tackling some challenging two-step problems. Now, we’re diving into multiplication, focusing on spotting patterns and building strong foundations for future learning.

Science
Our work on sound continues! This week, we investigated pitch and how it changes. Mrs. Skelley was very brave and let the children experiment by making different pitch sounds using a ruler. The children had lots of fun and there was lots of learning!

PE

The children choreographed their own hula hoop dances to the iconic beats of Michael Jackson. From "Billie Jean" to "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," they explored rhythm, timing, and movement. Working in small groups, they brainstormed routines, synchronized their hoop tricks, and practiced tirelessly to stay in sync. This not only boosted their physical coordination but also nurtured essential teamwork skills by encouraging listening to each other, giving feedback, and celebrating each other's ideas.

Christmas

This week, our Year 4 and 5 pupils have been hard at work designing an enchanted winter scene for the annual Winsford Christmas CINE film. From shimmering snowflakes to twinkling trees and magical creatures, their imaginations have truly brought the festive spirit to life. We can't wait to see them in the window of the Crosshatch Gallery over the Christmas period. We'll let you know when the video is up and running.

History

We are coming to the end of of History unit and we focussed on Chester as a Roman fortress whilst also looking at the Bath House and amphitheatre in the city. Perhaps you could take a visit one weekend to check them out in person? You could combine your visit with the Christmas Markets too?!

British Values

The whole school has contributed some work to the British Values display in the corridor this week. Linmere have been focussing on mutual respect and created some fabulous acrostic poems on this theme. Ask your child about all the ways that we can show respect for others in our everyday lives - they are so simple and certainly make for a much more positive life.

Carol Service

We have put in some more work on our song for the Carol Service this week and our song is now in 2 parts! We won't say any more about it other than make sure that you are at our Carol Service on Wednesday 17th December in St. John's chirch at 1.30pm - you're in for a treat!

Have a fabulous weekend!
