Linmere Class Blog: Friday 5th December 2025

Date: 5th Dec 2025 @ 12:40pm

This week has been full of creativity, learning, and fun!

Design and Technology  - Cooking

The children have been busy making delicious, healthy pizzas packed with nutritious ingredients such as mushrooms, courgettes, and peppers. We focused on making healthier choices by using less salt and sugar, and the results were fantastic! We hope that you got to share some of them when they went home.

PE
In PE, we explored how to add a canon to our dance routines and worked hard to move in sync as a group. There were some truly wonderful routines on display (although Mrs Boydell couldn’t resist adding a festive twist with some Christmas music).

English
Our writing lessons have focused on creating atmosphere and suspense. The children have been experimenting with language to keep readers on the edge of their seats! Some brilliant pieces are emerging.

Maths
In Maths, we’ve been learning about factors and prime numbers, and it’s clear that the children’s times tables are improving every day. Their confidence and speed are really shining through.

RE

We continued looking at the Good News in the Christmas story and looked at the Good News that Zechariah and Elizabeth received - we wondered at first how this connected to the Christmas story as it isn't to do with Jesus being born, but see if your child can tell you all about it and who their baby grew up to be.

Geography

More hot desert work! We looked at some of the physical features that could be found in Death Valley such as the salt flats, mushrooms rocks, mesa and natural arches and of course the sand dunes. We also looked at how Death Valley was formed as it used to be a lake but as the atmosphere warmed up, the lake dried up and left behind the salt flats. Did you know that the hottest temperature on earth was recorded at Death Valley at 56.7 degrees. Phew!

Mrs Skelley and Mrs Andrews will both be in school on Thursdays and Fridays over the last two weeks so I am signing off from my time in Linmere. I have really enjoyed teaching the children this term, even for just one day a week, and I will be sure to keep up with how they are getting on.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Skelley, Mrs Andrews and Mrs Snowdon
