Linmere’s Class Blog 09.05.2025

Another sunny and pleasant week in Linmere!

Pupils looked lovely, all dressed in red, white, and blue for our VE Day celebrations. We used class worship time to discuss and reflect on the importance of VE Day and why we remember it. Pupils also joined the nation in observing a two-minute silence on Thursday at noon.

In English, we are exploring aspects of poetry. This week, we read two poems—Windrush Child by John Agard and December by Valerie Bloom. Pupils compared the poems and examined how similes can be used to create imagery.

In Maths, we’ve continued working on decimals, including adding decimals using the column method. We’ve also recapped  converting mixed numbers to improper fractions.

In Science, we’ve started our new unit: Electricity. Pupils did a great job identifying appliances that use electricity and distinguishing whether they use mains electricity, batteries, or both. They are looking forward to making circuits in our next lesson.

We have continued to enjoy PE in the sunshine. A reminder for pupils to bring their PE kit on Monday and Thursday. The summer PE kit is a plain white t-shirt (no pictures or slogans), black shorts, and trainers.

Well done to Alice for winning the raffle prize!

Enjoy the weekend.
