Linmere's Class Blog: Friday 5th September 2025

Date: 5th Sep 2025 @ 8:11am

🎨We have created a stunning class portrait using watercolours. Each child painted their own face, and we surrounded our portraits with words that describe who we are e.g. kind, curious, brave, joyful….

πŸ“š In English, we've launched our new topic, The Radiant Child, inspired by the life and work of Jean-Michel Basquiat. We've been exploring his vibrant, expressive artwork and immersing ourselves in the sounds of jazz to spark our imaginations.

βž—Maths has been equally exciting! We've been investigating what numbers are made up of by breaking them down, building them up, and discovering the patterns within them. Our new fluency programme is also underway, helping us sharpen our skills and build confidence with numbers. We may have also been the first class to use the new iPads in our maths lessons!

πŸ”¬ In Science, we've begun exploring states of matter. To bring the concept to life, we took part in some role play by acting out how particles behave in solids, liquids, and gases. There was plenty of movement, laughter, and some brilliant thinking as we visualised how particles stay tightly packed in solids, flow in liquids, and zoom around in gases!

✝️ In RE, we started to get our teeth into our topic of how and why Christians worship and the benefits for believers. Ask your child if they can name some of the ways in which Christians worship – we found out at least 6!

πŸ›οΈ We also began looking at what evidence of the Romans can we see in Chester for our history unit and briefly looked at a couple of pictures of the Bath House and the amphitheatre. Perhaps you could visit Chester one weekend to see them in real life?

πŸ“ Weekly spellings have now been sent home and will be tested each Monday, so please take time to practise over the weekend.

πŸ‘Ÿ A gentle reminder: PE kits are needed on Tuesdays and Fridays. It is very important that everyone takes part in the PE lessons. We have spare kit for anyone who forgets their kit.

See you all next week.
