Linmere's weekly blog 12/1/24

This week has been full of many challenges in Linmere and children have done well to deal with all the obstacles thrown their way. 

In maths, the children started to work on long multiplication and lots of the children managed to grasp this tricky concept. We also finished our work on multiplying numbers by 10,100 and 1000 and afterwards the children could apply this to a range of problems.Our writing this week involved us continuing to look at diary writing and we pretended to be Hrothgar in our work (the king in our story). The children did really well to portray Hrothgar’s thoughts and feelings in this and created lots of concise expanded noun phrases within their diary.

During the rest of the week, we started our new art and history topics. Our history topic is now Ancient Greece and in this lesson we looked at how Greece’s geography helped it to develop into a  powerful empire.  For art, we began to look at patterns and creating repeating patterns.
