Oakmere - 10.11.2017

Date: 12th Nov 2017 @ 9:57pm

Once again, we've had an extremely busy week in Oakmere.  In English, we have been exploring when to use a and an in front of a word and the year 4 children were set the extra challenge of trying to find words that didn't fit the rules. They did an excellent job of being word detectives and found a couple of rare examples. We have also learnt about and practised writing expanded noun phrases, which will come on very handy when we writing a character description next week.

We jdve continued to explore addition in Maths and have moved on to the formal column method. I was very impressed with how much the year 4 children had remembered from last year and equally impressed with how well the year 3 children coped with a new method. Well done team Oakmere!

Filnally, we have explored and discussed Remembrance Day. The children expressed very mature and well thought out responses during our discussions and produced some beautiful acrostic poems. We also discussed how the 2 minute silence is a symbol of respect to all soldiers and how this linked to the British Value of Mutual Respect.
