๐ŸŒŸ Oakmere Class Blog – What’s Happening Next Week! ๐ŸŒŸ

Hello Oakmere!

First of all, a huge congratulations to all of you for your fantastic effort this week—especially in maths! Your hard work on column addition and subtraction is really starting to shine through, and it’s wonderful to see your confidence growing.

Next week in maths, we’ll be diving into:

  • The three times table ๐Ÿง
  • Squared numbers ๐Ÿ”ข
  • And continuing to master exchanging in column addition and subtraction โž•โž–

๐ŸŽ‰ Special shout-out to our TTRS champions: Poppy, Henry, and Kalvin—you’ve been amazing!
๐Ÿ‘ Also, a big well done to Albie,Eliza and Hollie for finishing their Number Sense booklet at home. We love seeing that extra effort!
๐ŸŒŸ And speaking of Hollie—what a week! Her maths work made it onto our Excellent Example Wall, along with Olive. Brilliant work, both of you!

๐Ÿ“š In English, we’re nearly finished with our character description of Floella’s dad. The children have been working hard to include adverbs and carefully editing their spelling after each sentence. Next week, we’ll be learning how to write and punctuate speech. The children will be writing a conversation between the sisters when they receive the letter from Marmie telling them they’re going to travel to England. โœ๏ธ

Our shared reading this week was all about volcanoes, and next week we’ll be summarizing the text.
๐ŸŒŸ Well done to our Superstar Spellers: Reuben, Eliza, Teddy, Charlie, and Daneel!
๐Ÿ“… Don’t forget to practice your spellings—the test is on October 20th.

๐Ÿงช In Science, we planned our favourite meals and made sure they were healthy and balanced—some of your ideas were very creative!
Next week, we’ll be learning about our amazing skeleton and how muscles help us with support, protection, and movement. Did you know the human skeleton has over 200 bones?
We’ll also be investigating whether the length of your femur affects how far you can jump! ๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿ’จ

โœ๏ธ In RE, we’re finishing our comparison of the two versions of the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant and discussing why the Bible can be interpreted in different ways.
A big thank you to Bobby, Poppy, Daneel, Reuben, and Billie for helping the Open Book group retell the story of the Loaves and the Fishes during our whole school collective worship. You were brilliant!

๐Ÿบ In History, we’ll be exploring the Mayan trade system. Did you know that in 600 AD, the Maya traded cacao, cotton, corn, and even made salt by boiling brine? We’ll be looking at how their trade was based around the seacoast and local markets.

๐Ÿง  In PSHE, we’ll be learning about safety around the house—how to spot what’s safe or dangerous, and who to turn to for help.

๐ŸŽจ In Art, we’ll be exploring how to draw movement in our figures. The children will be making quick observational drawings of their friends using charcoal. It’s going to be messy and fun!  Congratulations to Oscar who created a lovely arist study page in his Sketch book.

๐ŸŽ‰ And finally, congratulations to Albie for winning our raffle ticket prize this week!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone, and we’ll see you bright and early on Monday!
