Hello
As you are aware we had a bit of an unusual week with the bank holiday and Ofsted visiting us but the children were as usual fantastic.
In English we were looking at writing sentences in chronological order and using the right tense. This week the children will be writing their own short narrative about the hunt from the boy’s POV. This will include a speech sandwich and verbs used to describe the actions of the people hunting (pick, fish, hold, drop, spike, run, shout, point, grab, follow, creep, see, yell, throw, catch, celebrate, cook, dance) and the hunted animals (wriggle, stand, munch, fall).
In Maths last week we looked at adding and taking away length using cm, mm, and m. The week the children will using these skills to measure and work out the perimeter of simple shapes. We will continue to work on our twelve times table till half term. As you are aware the Year 4 children in our class will take part in a times table test towards the end of this year. The link below will take you to a website where your child can practice sitting the test. This will help them get used to the format of the test.

In Science we will be starting our new topic on plants. We will be exploring the different parts of a plants and the role they play in the life cycle of different plants. We finished off our topic of forces and magnets with the children making their own magnetic game. They worked together to make the resources and the rules of the game. Special mention goes to Evie, Alice, Tyler and Lily-Amelia who worked beautifully together, communicating well and working out the glitches together. Please see the photographs attached.
In History we will be looking at the immigration of agriculture and the impact on the Stone Aged culture of the UK. In RE we continue to explore the core beliefs of Sikhism and how they live these beliefs in their everyday life. In PE we are hoping to play our first Handball and Rounders game. Fingers crossed the weather allows us to go outside.
Have a great week!
Mrs Kelly
