Oakmere Class Blog 13.9.24

Hello
Another great week in Oakmere. We are really getting into the swing of Oakmere life.
This week we have been looking at adverbs and fronted adverbials and how we can use them in a sentence. Next week we will be creating noun phrases and expanded noun phrases to add to our writing. The children will be doing their spelling test this Tuesday. Please ensure you have followed the link for our new online reading diary. The number of times a week your child reads will contribute to how quickly they will get their first star. Please remember to send your child’s reading folder in every day so I can hear them read. The children will be offered the opportunity to change their book whenever they wish to.
In Math’s we continue to explore place value and the two times table. At the beginning of next week, I will be sending home the log ins for TTRS. The multiplication tables are vitally important to the children as most of our math’s requires an in-depth knowledge of multiplication. Therefore, I would like the children to go on for at least five minutes, four times a week. If your child has been unable to go on it four times a week please let me know and I will ensure they are given time within the school day to have a go.
In Science we will be finishing off our egg experiment looking at what toothpaste does to our teeth. We will be looking at the rest of the digestive system and how we absorb nutrients. In History we are going to be looking at the role the River Nile had on the development of Ancient Egypt as a civilization. I am hoping the weather will be clear enough for us to build a simple Shadoof (see if your child can explain what they are by the end of the week). We continue to learn about the world religion of Baha’i and how it began. In art we continue to explore the use of Charcoal and how different artists have used it over time.
We are lucky enough to have two coaches in for PE this half term and because of this our PE slot has changed from a Thursday to the Wednesday. The children have a space they can store their PE bags in so once they are in school you don’t need to worry about them. Well done to Beatrice for winning the raffle ticket prize this week.
Have a great weekend.
