Hello Oakmere
Happy Valentines to you all.
Can you believe we are now half way through the year? What a busy week its been with our trip to the library and Pupil Consultation meetings. The children were beautifully behaved on our trip to the Library and I have included some pictures of our visit. Thank you to everyone who came to see all the amazing work the children have done so far this year on Tuesday and Thursday. It is always lovely to chat about the children.
After half term here are some of the things we will be learning about.
English
In English, after the half term we will be writing a first person recount in role as Mary. The children will be expected to include the correct punctuation, noun phrases and adverbs. We will be discussing Mary Awning’s character traits and personality. Our spellings this week are accident, address, answer, bicycle, calendar, century, circle and early.
Maths
In maths we will be continue to work on column multiplication and hopefully move onto division. It is important that the children see the relationship between the two types of calculations. We will continue to work on 8x table. Well done to Beatrice, Sebastian and Ashton our TTRS winners. Congratulations to Thea, Beautiful, Belle, Lily E, Charlotte, Daisy, Olivia H, Sebastian, Oliver, Oscar and Ashton for getting twenty out of twenty on their times table test.
Science
We will be looking at sun safety and why we have to protect ourselves from harmful rays. We will be focussing on the importance of protecting our eyes.
History
When we come back we will be finishing off our History topic and answering our question ‘What was more impressive the Bronze or the Iron Age?’. Hopefully with all the research the children have undertaken in the past few weeks they will be able to answer this question.
PE
In PE, the children will be working on their dance skills with the PE coach. In my PE lesson we will be starting to learn how to play handball. Don’t forget to send the PE kits back as soon as possible. As we will be going outside more don’t forget to include jogging pants and a warm top. If your child wears tights, please ca you include a pair of socks. Nobody wants to be doing PE in tights!
RE
In RE we will be learning about Easter and what importance this time has for Christians around the world.
Art
In Art we working on our final piece using stiches to add texture and movement to our painted background. The children started the sewing this week and did really well. Only a few pricked fingers and thy all managed to put some stiches on their fabric.
Music
This week we are going to use the tambours to follow the stick notations and then work in small groups to create our own music.
Computing and French
Mrs Riley will be teaching the children these subjects on a Tuesday morning.
Congratulations
To Ashton for winning our raffle ticket prize. Lily and Suzanne get a special mention as they were the first children in our class to get a special lunch time certificate. Well done to Jacob for winning the road safety completion.
Have a great half term. Don’t forget that Monday 24th is an Inset Day so the first day back in school will be Tuesday 25th February.
