Hello
Can you believe we are at the end of the first half term? The children have been amazing and I can’t wait to share the fantastic work they have been doing in next week’s pupil consultation meeting. Please let us know if you haven’t managed to make an appointment yet.
In English next week we are looking at punctuating speech. The children will be role-playing Katherine and imagining the conversations she has with her new colleagues. Spelling test will be on Tuesday. In shared reading we will be retrieving information about the Egyptian Gods. Don’t forget the children can change their class Library books whenever they want and the school Library is open after school every Tuesday.
In Math’s, we have moved onto our unit on addition and subtraction and we will start by revisiting addition and subtraction facts and looking at what we know about numbers already. We continue to work on the three times table every day and I would appreciate it if you can remind the children to go on TTRS at least three times a week.
In Science we are working with Chester Zoo in preparation for our visit on Thursday. The children will be looking at native and non-native animals and the effect they have on our ecology. Don’t forget on Thursday we are on visiting Chester Zoo. Pupils need to wear their school jumper with joggers, waterproof coat, a hat, scarf and gloves. They also need a rucksack (they can carry all day), a snack, packed lunch and water bottle. Please ensure the children have suitable waterproof shoes and coat for our trip. If this week’s weather is anything to go by its going to be wet.
In History we will be writing secret messages using hieroglyphics and exploring the amazing achievements of the Ancient Egyptians. In Music we continue to explore sounds and how they are made. The children enjoyed our try at beatboxing and I have to say they picked it up quite quickly. Most of the children completed their Chiaroscuro art piece. For Black History Month we have been exploring the life of Katherine Johnson. The children have looked at how segregation impacted on her life and the battles she had to fight to get an education.
Please can you have a chat to your children about the safety of going on age inappropriate sites. A few children in this class commented about how they regularly go on Snapchat which as you will know is for children aged thirteen and above.
A huge well done to Lily for winning the raffle ticket prize this week and to Billie, Thea and Daisy for having their work selected for excellent examples.
Have a great weekend
Mrs Kelly
