π³ Oakmere Class Blog – What’s Happening Next Week!
Hello Oakmere!
We’ve had such a lovely week together — you’ve all worked so hard, and it really shows. I’m super proud of each and every one of you. Now, here’s a little peek at what exciting things we’ll be getting up to next week…
βοΈ English
We’re jumping into our diary entries all about the magical moment Tom and the Winter’s Child first met. You’ve already done some fantastic planning — thinking carefully about adjectives, adverbs and lots of lovely prepositions — so next week we’ll start writing the real thing!
A big well done to Kalvin, Albie and Sebastian for getting full marks on your spelling test! β
Your next spellings (to be tested on 3rd February) are:
- disagree
- disappear
- disappoint
- disbelief
- discover
- dislike
- disobey
- distrust
Keep practising — you can do it!
π Reading
We had loads of wonderful readers this week — so many of you earned some extra playtime, which was well-deserved!
And a huge congratulations to Reuben for earning his rainbow reading certificate! ππ
π’ Maths
This week we’re continuing with equivalent lengths, working with millimetres, centimetres and metres.
Next, we’ll move on to adding lengths, still switching between mm, cm and m like true mathematicians!
You’re also smashing your times tables — we’re focusing on the 6× table, but don’t forget to keep consolidating the ones you already know.
A big cheer for Reuben, Poppy and Izzy for winning on TTRS this week! π
π―οΈ RE
We’ll be learning about how Hindus celebrate Diwali, exploring traditions at home and in the temple. It’s such a colourful, joyful festival — you’re going to love it!
π¬ Science
Next week in Science we’ll be exploring how light travels and testing out ways to change the direction of a beam. This will link beautifully to our work from last week on light sources. Get ready for some hands-on experimenting!
πΊοΈ Geography
We’ll be stepping back in time to look at the history of Delamere Street and how it has changed over the years. You’ll be comparing old maps with new ones — a bit like being history detectives!
π PSHE
We’ll be finishing our topic on appropriate touch and discussing what we can do if someone is treating us in a way we don’t like. We’ll also be thinking about the British Value: Rule of Law and how it helps keep everyone safe and respected.
β½ PE
With me, you’ll continue working on your football skills, focusing on ball control, turning, and moving around the pitch without bumping into other players!
On Friday, you’ll be practising netball skills with the sports coach — lots of fun and teamwork ahead!
π¨ Art
Next week you’ll choose one of Henri Matisse’s early works and begin with a “show me” activity, sketching out the main parts using pencil. Then, using those sketches, you’ll recreate the artwork using collage, learning all about layering and finishing with pen details. It’s going to look amazing!
ποΈ Raffle Winner
A big well done to Izzy for being our raffle ticket winner this week! π
Have a fantastic weekend, everyone — rest well, have fun, and we’ll see you bright and early on Monday!
