Hello

A bit of a short week for me this week but it was lovely to get back to the children and see all the lovely work they had completed whilst I was off. The children have been taking excellent care of me. I do think most of them are desperate to have a go on the crutches though!

In English, this week we are working on our big write. This is where we use all of the skill, we have learnt this term and produce a piece of work. We are writing a fact file about  Katherine Johnstone. In our shared reading the children are working on retrieval of information. Please remember to fill in the online reading log when you hear your child read at home. I have over half of the class not reading in the last three weeks. Reading regularly is important and any child who is not reading at home I then need to try and find time to read with in school.  The only time I have is during break and lunch time. Please come and chat to me if you are struggling to read with your child at home and I will try to help.

In Maths we are adding and subtracting crossing the ten/hundred boundary. The children are doing very well with this tricky calculation. We continue to look at the four times table. Well done to Beautiful, Sebastian and Archie for winning our TTRS leaderboard this week.

We have started our rock topic with the children sorting our class collection by appearances and this week we are going to use the classification system to identify the type of rock it is. In RE we continue to look at the first three verses of the Creation story. The children have been looking at leavers in DT and poetry in music.

We did have a bit of a tricky PE lesson this week as quite a few children didn’t have PE kits or parts of their PE kit. Please can I ask you to chat to your child and check they have everything they need. We are working on our hockey and dance skills this half term.

Have a great week!

Mrs Kelly
