Hello Oakmere
I can’t believe we are at another Friday already! We have had another grand week in spite of the weather and he children have been working hard.
In English we tackled the how to use conjunctions in a sentence and the children wrote some lovely sentences combing conjunctions, noun phrases and adjectives. The children then used these skills to write a description of Katherine our book heroine. Next week will be writing a diary entry from Katherine’s dads point of view. Don’t forget to fill in your home reading log. Thank you to those that have. I love seeing the pictures and videos. Spelling test will be on Tuesday. We chatted to the children today about their class library books as some children seem to bringing them back frequently and others not so much. If you could just check to make sure the class library book are read and returned regularly, please.
In Math’s we will be moving onto the three times table and if you could practice this at home I would appreciate it. Please remind your children to go on TTRS as this is a great way to ensure this skill is embedded. In Math’s will be ordering numbers to 1000 and estimating numbers on a blank number line.
In Science we will be looking at the skeleton and exoskeleton. The children will be exploring the functions of skeletons and how different skeletons have developed. In RE we will be finishing off our work on Bahia places of worship. The lovely Gymnastic and cricket coaches will be in working with the children. The children’s hand to eye co-ordination was very impressive on Wednesday as the children were working on their batting skills. History should be fun this week as I am hoping to recreate the mummification process with the children. We have been cutting out little cardboard figures all week and then sticking on the vital organs so that the children can remove them and place them in Canopic jars. We will also look at what has happened to our hotdog sausage that we are desiccating in salt. I have had a bit of a peek and it does look quite yuk!
We have finished the week on a high note with our express yourself day. The different outfits were lovely and we had a good chat about why it is important to find ways to be yourself. Beatrice told me she loves own clothes day because it makes her feel bigger and more important. Mrs. Hodge told me she loves own clothes day because she got to wear her Lilo and Stitch PJ’s in school!
Well done to Oliver for winning our raffle ticket prize draw. Have a great weekend.
