Oakmere Class Blog and World Book day 11.3.24

Date: 10th Mar 2024 @ 9:55pm

Hello Oakmere

I hope you a lovely weekend. Oakmere had another busy week and we got to welcome another friend to our class family. She settled in quickly, probably due to how well the class looked after her.

We continue to work on our text ‘Winters Child’ and the children looked at similes and how to write their own. We will continue to develop  this skill and incorporate it in our writing. The children have their spelling test on Monday, and they should bring the new words home the same day.  Please send in your child’s reading folder everyday. For World Book Day the children created artwork based on the illustrations in the book ‘We are Wonders.’  The children haven’t yet finished this work but hopefully next week I’ll have some photographs to share with you.

In Maths we continue to work on fractions looking at using a number line to compare them and order them by size. The children will be tested on the nine times table on Monday, and they should bring that test home.

It is Science week, and we will be tying our experiment into our work on light. Hopefully if the weather is with us, we will be creating out own sundials and tracking the rotations of the sun.

In Geography the children will be looking closely at the Congo rainforest and what characterises it. We will be looking at some of the indigenous people of the areas and the distinct flora and fauna we would find there. We are continuing to work on hockey and dance skills in PE.

Thank you for your continued support.
