Oakmere Class Weekly Blog 20.1.24
Date: 19th Jan 2025 @ 5:41pm
Hello Oakmere
Hope you have had a great weekend. Oakmere were as usual fantastic and worked well all week. We had several compliments about how well the class is working and how lovely they are to teach. They have particularly impressed me with their work on seeing the link between multiplication and division and their lovely writing about the day Mary Anning found her largest fossil. We are just in the process of editing this work and when this is finished, I will post some pictures.
In English, this week we will be looking at the use of the plural and possessive apostrophe and the use of adverbs to expressive time. The children will have their spelling test on Tuesday, and we be assessing the children’s reading this week and next.
In Maths we continue to explore multiplication and division fact and learning the seven times table. In Science we will be moving onto a new unit about light, and we start by looking at what the children understand light to be. In History we are learning how the use of bronze impacted on the time. In RE we continue to look at different places of Worship and this week we are looking at the Hindu place of worship-a Mandir. In Art we are exploring how famous artists used simple lines and marks to create images. This will be translated into stiches when they move onto their textile piece.
In PE we are working on Netball skills and the coach will be working on Gymnastic skills. Hopefully if the weather continues to improve, we will start to move outside for part if not all of the lesson. If you wish to send in something warmer for the children to wear you are more than welcome.
Well done to Louie for winning our raffle ticket prize this week.
Have a great week.
Mrs Kelly
